Prom Night
I wrote this story back in October 2011, as part of a contest entry. The contest was to create a prom outfit, but (as so often happens to me in CAS) as I started modelling dresses and creating a sim to show them off, I started to get a story forming in my head, and both sims came to life with a backstory and a tale to tell. At some point I may elaborate on their tale further, but for now, here is the story of Cassie and Evan's prom night.
Meet Cassie Cleaver. A humble girl from an honest, hard working family. Cassie had a happy childhood. There wasn't a lot of simoleans to go around for extra treats, but she was fed, clothed, and loved and understood that the things that mattered most you couldn't put a price on.
She hadn't been planning to go to the prom. After all, it would be far too expensive, what with a dress, shoes etc. She thought instead that she'd spend a cosy night in watching dvds with her high school sweetheart, Evan.
Cassie Cleaver and Evan Meyers had been best friends ever since Cassie shared her biscuit with him on the swings in the park after preschool, while their mums sat on the benches and gossiped. They played together, laughed together, grew up together, and when they realised that they had something more here than just friendship, no-one was surprised.

And so to the night of the prom. Cassie heard the doorbell go. Her parents were out at a restaurant, so Cassie went to the door, expecting to see Evan in his ever-present hoodie, carrying a pizza box and the latest blockbuster. Instead she opened the door to find Evan dressed, well, like a handsome prince!
Cassie had a secret - even though she was very nearly a young adult, she still had a fascination for fairy tales, especially those where there was a princess and a handsome prince. Most of all she loved the story of Cinderella, as she loved the idea of the poor girl doing good, but she loved all the princess stories. Only Evan knew that she still loved fairy tales, even her parents thought she had grown out of them.
So when a handsome prince turns up at her door, Cassie is somewhat gobsmacked.
"Evan - what are you doing dressed up like that?"
"I'm taking you to the ball - I mean Prom, " replied Evan with a twinkle in his eye.
"Don't be daft - I've nothing to wear"
"Oh yes you have" said Evan with a smile, and turned around a picked up a large box, which Cassie hadn't noticed before. "In here is a hired ball dress and matching shoes. Why don't you go and try them on for size?"
Cassie stared at the box. "But how...?"
"Remember all those extra shifts I've been doing after school? Well..."
"Oh Evan!" Cassie exclaimed - you're like my fairy godmother!!
"Erm, maybe less of the "mother" part" laughed Evan - now go and get dressed. "Dad's going to drive us there in his new car!"
Cassie looked in the mirror and couldn't believe what she saw. Having done her hair and make-up, she had put on the dress and felt instantly transformed as if she was in her own fairytale.
As she came down the stairs the look on Evans face made her heart skip. "Cassie, you look...wow!!
Evan quickly dashed upstairs to check his outfit in the mirror, and then Evan's dad drove up, beeping his horn.

Soon enough they were at the Prom. All of Cassie's friends were there, and commented on how fabulous she looked, but all night she only had eyes for Evan. They laughed and danced until the Prom was near the end.
"Let's go for a walk, " suggested Evan, The night air was warm, and they found themselves wandering and chatting until they came to the park.
"Wow, do you remember how much time we used to spend here?" remarked Cassie.
"Of course. You were always so sweet and kind. And pretty. But now you're beautiful. Cassie."
They sat down on the grass for a while and watched the stars.
"Look, a shooting star!" Cassie pointed excitedly.
"Make a wish," whispered Evan, looking intently at his girlfriend.
"I wish..."
"Oh you shouldn't tell anyone", said Evan
"But I want to tell you. I wish that every day could feel as special as you've made this one feel."
Evan pulled Cassie up form the ground. "Well I can't promise to wear this prince outfit everyday, it needs to go back to the shop tomorrow - well, later today actually," he said, as he saw the sun coming up in the distance. " But I can promise that I will do my very best to let you know how special you are to me."

Evan got down on one knee. He pulled out a box, smiling as he thought about what else he had been saving up for with his after-school job.. "Cassie, my princess, will you marry me?"
And just then Cassie knew she had everything her heart desired. She had her handsome prince and she would live happily ever after...
